“SVC’s Upward Bound Program is so pleased that Iana Bach has been chosen for this honor,” said Director of Upward Bound Elizabeth Harris. According to Harris, Bach has been in the program since 2006 and is one of the most active and outgoing participants. “Bach is strong academically,” Harris added.
Iana is a very talented young woman who doggedly pursues her dreams. She pushes herself academically and actively utilizes the academic resources around her. She is involved in various extracurricular activities. Iana was elected as a student member of Manchester's Energy Commission Board in Fall 2008. She also volunteers at Civil Air Patrol as the captain of the squad and serves as a tour guide for the historic Equinox Hotel. Recently, she was recognized in the March/April edition of the Next Step Magazine as a 2009 Super Teen for her accomplishments.
Currently, she is an honor student attending Burr and Burton, located in Manchester and has always had an interest in a medical field. She has supplemented her aspirations by working at a pharmacy in Manchester, an opportunity that allows her to observe the workings of a compounding pharmacy. After high school, Iana plans to attend college and study neuroscience and nursing. Upon completion of a master’s degree, she hopes to begin her life making a difference by assisting children with autism and other disabilities.
