| What factors are important to you in deciding on a college? |
The academic quality is definitely important because I want to make sure I am getting the best education that I need to succeed. The next important factor for me would be the cost of attending a University because it will be a tough competition to receive a great scholarship. |

Alannah has been an active participant of the Four Corners Upward Bound Math Science Program grant # PO47M070058 at Northern Arizona University since May, 2008. She has participated in our Academy for the past two summers on the Northern Arizona University campus. This summer Alannah also completed the Future Health Leaders curriculum offered to our sophomore students by the Northern Arizona Area Health Education Center.
During the fall semesters of 2008 and 2009, Alannah was successful in completing our online Service Learning class for one college credit each year. Last year Alannah’s project involved organizing a cleanup around her dorm community. She also volunteered at a local nursing home; reading to residents. This year Alannah is volunteering with the local Humane Society.
Alannah has been attending Flagstaff High School in Flagstaff, AZ while living in the BIA-operated Kinlani Bordertown Dormitory. At the dormitory she has been a member of the student council and the sophomore class representative. In school, Alannah has been the recipient of both Citizenship and Honorable Achievement awards, and is on the Principal’s Honor Roll. Alannah competes on three school sports teams: swimming, softball and basketball. As a member of her school’s Native American Club, Alannah helps with fundraising, volunteering and social activities. Alannah wants to study to become a pediatrician so she can go back home and have the greatest impact on her community by ensuring the good health of the children. We are extremely proud to have Alannah as a member of our program and community.
